Project trip with Children of Lesotho from 12 to 28 December 2026
Our trip combines personal encounters in Lesotho with time in the mountains and a safari stay in South Africa. Our group is planned for ten people, and we are still looking for two more travellers. The youngest person in our group is 19, the oldest 96.
Starting in South Africa: Springbok Lodge
On 12 December 2026 we fly from Frankfurt to Johannesburg. To begin with, we spend two days at the Springbok Lodge in the Nambiti Private Game Reserve. The reserve offers the chance to see the “Big Five”: elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard. Which animals we actually see is up to nature.
According to the lodge, the Nambiti reserve lies in a malaria-free area. You can find more information from the Springbok Lodge.
Lesotho: time for people and landscape
From there, the trip takes us into the mountains of Lesotho. For twelve days Malealea Lodge is our home. You can choose between standard rooms and rondavels, the typical round houses.
The focus is on visiting our projects and partners:
- Malealea: meeting the Malealea Development Trust (MDT) and two volunteers.
- Mafeteng: visiting two more volunteers.
- Bethel: meeting a craftsman we support.
Among other things, the MDT works for education, health, particularly vulnerable children and the development of the local community. You can find out more about its work from the Malealea Development Trust.
Between the project visits there is plenty of time for hiking, horse riding and mountain biking, or simply for enjoying the landscape. Activities are chosen according to interest and personal ability.
We arrive back in Frankfurt on 28 December 2026.
